Melantónia, a Berlin and Umbria-based music platform founded by Hanna Maria & Mattia Onori in 2021, introduces a new concert series starting on April 27th at Morphine Raum, with a 3-live act evening by Mattia Onori, Slowfoam and SSIEGE.

Mattia Onori is the sound designer, artist and mind behind the sound and visual arts collective Melantónia. Onori’s expansive electronica and ambient sounds weave a story that resonates on a deeply personal and universally accessible level. This narrative arc, built upon a foundation of processed electroacoustic instruments, granular synthesizers, and field recordings, questions the contemporary musical landscape’s connection to post-modern technology.

Slowfoam is the all-encompassing sound project of Berlin-based Madelyn Byrd. Their glitched-out, aqueous soundscapes incorporate drones, sparkling ambience, electro-acoustics, obfuscated poetics, field recordings, and textural percussion in a process-driven practice of metamorphosing the synthetic and organic, collaborating in equal part with technology and biology. With this Slowfoam’s appearance at Morphine Raum, Melantónia also announces their entry to the label’s catalogue with a contribution for the second volume of the VA ‘Variierende Töne’, to be released later this year.

SSIEGE is a portal to a dream world that draws upon several recurring themes such as shyness, memory, adolescence and dreams. With Beautiful Age [YOUTH 2023] the mind travels back to the everlasting spring of youth: a melancholic reflection on adolescence veiled by the spooky halo of frequent dub intrusions. In 2021 Meteora appears on the illustrious catalogue of Dutch label Knekelhuis. An inner place inhabited by a succession of spirits, memories and visions blending into the ether.
